November 2008 Archives

So check this out. Being that we enjoy "Keeping Austin Weird" down here in Texas I recently helped the Alamo Drafthouse put on a VAMPIRE PROM to celebrate the release of TWILIGHT and LET THE RIGHT ONE IN. It was hard work, fun and amazing all at once. Not to plug myself but if you ever need help organizing and running a horror themed event find me here. You can read more about our Prom here, see how it got all  "Cray Cray" here, and check out a ton of photos of how we did it here.

So enjoy and hit the Alamo up that this should be an annual tradition!  Also check out the photos from our local newspaper here.

Henri and I haveing a good time...
Check out this press release (or download the MP4 Video here) we got from two Haunted Attraction companies this week below. It's basically a dark ride in 4D with a rotating platform and no actors? What do you think readers?

Louvain-La-Neuve, Orlando, November 25th, 2008 - Based on an original idea from Alterface, the Belgian company and Clostermann Design have joined forces to launch a project that will build a multimedia and interactive haunted house. This attraction will bring together the best achievements of these two highly complementary companies.

The adrenalin flowing in the veins of up to 30 spectators will be taken to boiling point, thanks to a spectacle that combines special effects, animatronics and interactive 3D video images. In a large room, sitting in comfortable effect armchairs fixed to a revolving platform, the players/spectators will experience all-round stimulation of their senses and lose their spatial awareness as the platform rotates. This interactive haunted house will open doors to astonishing worlds - ones that will evolve as the story unfolds and in line with the audience's interaction.

From our friends over at Gore Galore. This is a 2,400 dollar plus costume. But, as you can see, it looks amazing!
That is a good question. Seems like I assumed our readers would know what it is but I got a couple of emails saying people had not heard of it.

So check out the official promotional Video from Transworld here: http://www.hauntshow.com/video/

And of course the obligatory YouTube Video here:

Whoa. No one told me. This looks like a great new place to have it. Check out the official word on the street So who is going? Leave us a comment below.

The name of this upcoming movie is "Repo: the Genetic Opera" and it looks pretty cool, if you are into musical's/rock operas.

To put it another way, if you are a fan of Sweeny Todd (as I became) I'm sure you'll love this:

This week the Ghost Adventures crew will be investigating a very cool location - Sloss Furnaces in Birmingham, Alabama. The show airs Friday at 10 pm ET. Check the sneak peek out below:

So apparently this book series is kinda a big deal. Based on the #1 New York Times Best-Selling series with over 17 million books in print by Stephenie Meyer, TWILIGHT is a cultural phenomenon, with a dedicated fan base that eagerly awaits this movie.  There are over 350 fan sites devoted to TWILIGHT, and it has been chosen as the New York Times  Editor's Choice, a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year, Amazon's "Best Book of the Decade...So Far", Teen People's "Hot List" Pick, and The American Library Association's "Top Ten Best Book for Young Adults" and "Top Ten Books for Reluctant Readers," among others.  Critically acclaimed director Catherine Hardwicke brings to life this modern, visual, and visceral Romeo & Juliet story of the ultimate forbidden love affair - between vampire and mortal.

Yes that's right someone actually started a Social Network for Zombies. You can sign up in two categories. Are you a Zombie or a Survivor? To help launch the site they actually went out and created 5 mini Web Episodes to explain what the site is all about and how the new world works after the Zombie outbreak. Good stuff. Go sign up today here. And watch their Zombie TV episodes here.

Thanks to @kevinblanchard on twitter for this link!
