Haunted House Reviews - House of Torment Austin, TX
The House of Torment
For the
House of Torment there were two separate houses One is the House of Torment
(Contagium) The other is Illusion Manor.
I went
through both places. The first one the House of Torment (Contagium) I thought
was very well done. They spent a lot of time with the look and feel of lobby
area while you wait in line and the detail and thought that was put in was
amazing. The one idea I had that I thought perhaps they could use for next year
is in the lobby area they have 2 or 3 small fountains of water if they could
add fake blood I feel that would give it a great affect. Going into the House
of Torment (Contagium) they let in a few groups at a time which was fun but I
though perhaps if they let in one group at a time it would give it a more scary
experience this way the actors can focus more on the individual groups and give
it a scarier experience. I liked the lighting affects the actors were great and
definitely gave me quit a scare. One part of the house I experienced that I thought was a little unnecessary is while
you are walking up a path and look up you see an actor hanging from the ceiling
the actor doesn't really do much but hang there so I felt like that was not
needed and definitely not scary. Overall I liked the House of Torment
(Contagium) and definitely was a great experience.
The second place I went through that was part of the House of Torment is the Illusion Manor. This one wasn't as scary and was a bit short, I was expecting a lot more. The Manor basically consists of actors jumping out at you and quite a bit of fun house mirrors so I felt I was more at a carnival than an actually haunted house. The part I did like is going through the fabric tunnel then immediately walking up a ramp that then brings you to a slanted room where you have to try to make your way through the slanted room back down the ramp. That was a really cool experience. There is a bit of walking up and down stairs which keeps it pretty exciting. It was a decent experience, but definitely too short, and needs to be a bit longer than or almost as long as the House of Torment Contagium.
