Interview - Alex Masterson of Mr. Video
Today, in follow up to that movie, we present you with a short interview with Alex Masterson, the mind behind Mr. Video:
Why did you first become interested in horror movies?
While growing up in Toronto, I remember as a boy seeing a creepy Canadian film called BLACK CHRISTMAS, which scared the shit out of me at the time. And then a few years later, when I saw THE SHINING, I became a confirmed horror fan.
Do you have plans to make Mr. Video into a feature length film?
No, unfortunately Mr. Video, the actually location where we shot the film, is gone. But I've just finished writing a dark thriller feature screenplay, which I hope to direct within the next few years.
How did you start?
I got my first start in the film industry as a screenwriter, when I moved from Canada to England and had one of my feature scripts optioned by a production company.
What inspires you to create?
I don't know really? I've always been creative, ever since I was little.
Do you ever get scared anymore?
Sure, who doesn't?
What does scare you?
Humans.
Do you believe in real haunted houses? Ghosts? Etc.
Absolutely. I was always quite skeptical about stuff like that, but since having a supernatural experience myself, I do believe there's another world around us.
What is fear?
Fear is the unknown.
Who is your film geared towards?
Anyone who enjoys having a laugh, as well as being scared.
What other information would you like to pass on to our readers?
If you do get a chance to see MR. VIDEO at a film festival, I hope you enjoy it!
