DVD Review - Undead or Alive

We just got this dvd over the weekend and at first glance we thought "this is going to be bad."
But you know what? It wasn't that bad. In fact it was pretty good.
The story is based in the Old West, where an innocent cowboy, Luke (Saturday Night Live's Chris Kattan) and his reluctant new partner, Elmer (James Denton, TV's Desperate Housewives) get into trouble with the law.
Unbeknownst to them, an indian curse has been unleashed on white men which turns them into zombies.
Now we know you're thinking "well that's kinda lame" but the story is not too bad. Sure there are some parts where you shake your head, but overall it's a pretty good story. The acting of the 3 main characters (Kattan, Denton, and Navi Rawat from the TV Show Numb3rs) were really very good.
Our favorite part of the movie was a rant that Elmer (Denton) goes on part way through the movie while staring over the Grande Canyon.
Remember, this is more of a horror spoof on zombie movies, much like Shaun of the Dead. It's not meant to be taken seriously. Therefore you have to have a good laugh at it.
Our only real problem with this movie is that it seems like 2 movies squished into one - on one hand you have a western/comedy which could stand on its own just fine, and an the other hand it's a zombie film which could also stand on its own (with more story development). Yet the film makers do manage to make the 2 stories fit together (more or less).
So if you are looking for something light to watch one night, why not pick it up, or if you know someone who likes zombie movies, then you have to buy them this one.
