I've had this DVD around for a few days so I thought I'd stick it in the DVD player this weekend. The synopsis explains like this:

"Two young couples set out to explore the jungles of New Guinea in search of Michael Rockefeller, heir to the Rockefeller fortune who disappeared there over 40 years ago. To their horror, their hunt for a big payday turns them into the hunted as the native cannibals follow their every move and unfathomable bloodshed waits at the gory end. "

It looks a lot like Blair Witch but with a few twists.

Overall I have to say the movie was well done. It isn't a scary movie, but it does keep you on the edge of your seat once they get to the jungle.

Up until they get to the jungle it kinda drags on, however all through the movie you get an idea of what's going to happen.

But don't let that stop you from watching it. While it isn't as original as Blair Witch it's still got a decent story, good camera work and incredible scenery.

My only problem with this movie is the end of it. Granted they were going for a documentary type of feel but I was dissappointed with the end of it, even though I knew it was coming.

I won't spoil the ending in case you do want to see this movie, but I'm sure you'll be going "what the hell?" at the end of it.

OK I can't resist, I have to spoil it, so if you don't want the spoiler please stop now and go rent or buy the movie!

Last warning, spoiler to follow....

OK here it is.

At the end of the movie, you obviously see them all get taken by the cannibals. And in fact, at the very end you do see a "white cannibal" who you'd assume is the missing Michael Rockefeller. He looks about the right age, so it fits the story.

But my problem with this movie is this: If it was a documentary style, how did the cameras get "back" to civilization so we could see the story? I mean, with Blair Witch they had a compelling backstory that explained how the cameras where found and so on. If the cannibals are so back in this area, then obviously it would be near impossible for those cameras to come back in one piece.

Aside from that I thought the movie was well done and worth the time to watch it.
