DVD Review - Halloween

Yes it's true Michael Myers is back and I have to say he's better than ever. Rob Zombie, the director of the new Halloween movie, has done a great job of not only revisiting and improving what Halloween was when it first came out in 1978, but has added another dimension to the Halloween story.
As everyone knows, Michael Myers dons a Halloween mask and on Halloween (the day) he goes on a killing spree. But what many have wondered (myself included) is how Michael became such a sadistic madman. Director Zombie tells us this story and more. Telling us how Michael had a screwed up childhood and how he took it upon himself at a young age to fix it.
Of course, how he fixes it is unlike how most kids would deal with this particular situation, but still he does take matters into his own hands. From there Michael goes downhill to the point where he regresses into himself, cutting off all communication with the outside world. And, well, you can figure out the rest.
The characters are great, the acting is good and of course there's the music made famous by John Carpenter and his piano. It brings back memories. I only wish this DVD had been out at Halloween, but of course it was at the theaters at this time.
The movie also has some notable actors who just help make the movie that much better. They include Malcolm McDowell and Brod Dourif among others. Daeg Faerch who plays Michael at age 10 also deserves a mention because he convincingly plays the young psycho.
So, if you are a horror genre fan, or just a fan of the Halloween series you won't be disappointed with this flick.
