Buried Alive - DVD Review

Maybe it was the fact that I watched it after midnight on a very long day that makes me not like it, or perhaps I was just too tired.

In any event, you too may find that there are some good and some bad things about this story.

For example, the nerdy role (always has to be one in movies like this right?) is played by someone who definitely needs some more acting classes. Thank god they killed him off early.

The rest of the acting is surprisingly not bad. Despite a few "oh my god I can't believe they said that" moments, overall I was not turned off by the acting.

The same thing can be said for the story as a whole - there were flashes of briliance in it, and again moments where it seems like one bad cliche after another. To top it off, it seems as if the story went unfinished before they started filming. It was almost as if this was written as a 3 hour epic, and then parts were cut, leaving holes in the storyline.

While I wouldn't have recommended seeing this movie in the theater, I don't mind saying that if you want a movie that will give you a couple good scares, and one with a decent story (even though I would have preferred to see more development of the story) then this is not a bad movie to get.

It's not a real slasher movie (although there are a couple good scenes where various body parts are hacked) and it does have some decent special effects.

Like I said, too bad there wasn't more to this story because in the end I think that's what holds it back a little, but overall if you like horror movies, not a bad one to watch.
