Went to an AWESOME Haunted Attraction last night. I visited "The Mansion of Terror" here in Austin, TX. If your coming into town for MAKER Faire this weekend be sure to check it out. I will do a full review on it next week.

In the meantime check out this sweet prop

Build a Corpse
About a million different people but we chose the folks at Gore Galore

So you know those decaying bodies from CSI or even the old corpses from Indiana Jones films? Well you can go out and buy one for around $500-$600 dollars or make one of your own for around 200.00. The most expensive part is the skeleton itself. Most people buy theirs from other or the Anatomical Chart Company. After that you need the following materials : Toilet tissue tore into 2" squares, Cotton balls, Can of Latex, Box knife, 1/4" Aluminum or copper tubing, Sponge brushes for applying the Latex, tape, Spray glue, Bone colored spray paint and accent colors of brush paint, Cheese Cloth, Minwax Gel Stain and Great Stuff Foam. Now how do you want it to look? Old, rotting or burned? Let’s go with rotting shall we?

1.Wearing the disposable gloves, and working in a well ventilated area, sparingly spray 3M super 77 on a small area of your skeleton.
2. Rip a small section of Cotton Batting and apply it to the 3M adhesive.
3. Brush Latex into the batting you have applied to the skeleton.
4. Continue applying small batches entirely over the skeleton. Rip and tear the batting as you see fit for the tattered look. You want holes in the flesh so the bone shows through for the really deteriorated look. Cheese Cloth, Paper Towels, and Toilet Paper can all be substituted for the Cotton Batting. Each one does have a different look, but experiment so you know what you will end up with.
5. The aging technique is the final step we will apply. Which means start applying that wood stain where you see fit. Try MinWax Gel #605 Mahogany.
This method takes between 4 and 6 hours.
