Viscera Film Festival
If you haven't seen the Banner Ads we have been running here then take a note. The Haunted Report is one of the official sponsors of the Viscera Film Festival. It's run by Shannon Lark and recently she took a moment to tell us what it is all about.
What is the Viscera Film Festival?
It's a rather exclusive Festival wherein only women may work on the films submitted. This means every role, from acting to directing to editing, on and off camera.
Why a women's only horror festival?
The purpose of the Festival is to raise the low ratio of women to men in the horror genre, in all aspects of production. In doing so, Viscera is attempting to assist in raising the female to male ratio in the film industry in general, creating an equal atmosphere.
Where is it held and how many contestants/entries do you have?
This is an online fest and has just been launched, so entries are just beginning to be produced.
What are the prizes?
* Distribution: All winners of Viscera will have their work placed on the Viscera Series DVD which will be distributed through TCM via internet.
* Festival Screening: Various film festivals are picking the Viscera film of their choice to play at their next festival.
* Each Artist will be highlighted as a Viscera Women, with a bio, pic, and contact information on The Chainsaw Mafia. Artist's films and info will be featured on thechainsawmafia.com indefinitely.
* Prizes: The Viscera Festival Choice Award of $200 will go to one filmmaker. The monetary award must be used towards creating another horror film. Various sponsors are donating prizes to the winners of the festival. Prizes will be announced continuously.
Finally how and when can our readers enter?
Visit thechainsawmafia.com and go to the Viscera page. There you will find details and instructions on how to enter. A filmmakers submission form and non exclusive contract must be downloaded and sent along with each film submitted! The final deadline is October 1st, 2007. It's completely free to enter!
