August 2006 Archives

According to the folks over at Zombietronix they have got a great new product for your Haunted House. Using 6 CD players, they've created a haunted presense that pans, skips, hops, jumps, shimmies, and rolls over 12 channels of audio. If you want to check out some demo's and how the whole process works take a look at their sweet little site here. Each variation is a mood from "subtle" to "insane" to fulfill your spiritual needs. Sweetness....

:: This is part of our Interview series where we interview top people in the Haunted House/Horror Business Indistry::

Why did you first become interested in the Haunted House/Horror Business?
It all started with a B movie. A low budget horror film morphed into Phobia, a 30 acre site with five separate haunted attractions and 150+ employees. Then we started producing our own animatronics and props. We never made the movie, but we do scare tens of thousands of patrons every season, here in Houston. We sell our props throughout the U.S., Canada, and Latin America, via Phobiaprops.com.

What previous jobs have you had?
I have been a loose diamond buyer, developed real estate, raised cattle and, of course, this is Texas, there’s always the oil patch.

What job do you do right now? Is the Haunted House/Horror Job your full time gig?
Phobia and Phobiaprops, com is a year round effort, employing several full time artisans.
I have other ongoing investments, but the Haunted House business rules all.

VERSIPELLIS is the new, independent documentary about werewolfism. As seen from a classic European perspective, it ranges from historical cases to modern theories, from wolves behavior to legends and folklore, mental deseases and more. VERSIPELLIS is going to be a milestone in its field: a 50 minutes feature documentary freely downloadable (in 5 blocks), enriched with interviews with many experts in the field of zoology, legends, medicine, criminology.

VERSIPELLIS is an international non-profit project, and its revenues will be donated to wolf conservation project(s).
The documentary is co-produced by Italian directors Michele Cogliati and Francesco Cortonesi in association with filmhorror.com (Italy) and monstruous.com(U.K.). The whole script is based on historical research, European legends and lore, psychiatric and criminological profiles, to offer the most complete full immersion in the darkness of the werewolf's mith.

Being a non-profit project, producers encourage private donations and industry sponsorships to support the process: "But we will carefully evaluate their history and position regarding wildlife respect and conservation policies". With the help from credited sites and communities devoted to wildlife conservation and horror movies, VERSIPELLIS' aim is to explore a new frontier in entertainment offering a rich and informative movie while supporting wildlife conservation.

VERSIPELLIS is the ancient Latin term for "werewolf", the most fearsome and most southern monstrous creature ever. A small clip is available for free download just to show the spirit of the documentary. Nothing is definitive at this stage but we hope you will like our style.

Stay tuned to the Haunted Report for more information on this film as it develops...
