ElSwarro Productions Interview
:: This week we interviewed Gina from El Swarro Productions! ::
Why did you first become interested in the Haunted House/Horror Business?
My husband grew up a huge horror fan and wanted to one day make a low budget horror movie. Well, we started playing around with doing one minute horror scenes as practice and then the idea hit us. Making stock Haunted Attraction commercials for businesses that don’t have huge budgets was a great idea! We have made 9 of them so far and they are big hit!
What previous jobs have you had?
I have been a cameraman and an editor.

What job do you do right now? Is the Haunted House/Horror Job your full time gig?
Yes and No. I own Elswarro Productions, which specializes in video work for extreme sports, military training, indie films and for the last 3 years, haunted attraction stock commercials.
How long have you been in the business?
Video biz…..6 years
Haunt biz…..3 years

How did you start?
I received my training in the Marine Corps. That’s right, I was in the Marines for 6 years! My job was a combat cameraman…..although, I really didn’t see any combat. Ha! Ha!
What’s the scariest Haunted House you ever attended? Haunted Hotel in San Diego
Do you still find time to attend Haunted Houses? Yes, but we can’t find any in Reno!
What inspires you to create? The feedback we get from clients motivates us! I love to watch people’s reactions when they watch our stuff.
Do you ever get scared anymore? Hell yea!
What does scare you?
Teletubbies and sushi houses in the Midwest.
Do you believe in real Haunted Houses? Ghosts? Etc.
Not yet!
Who’s your average customer?
Our average customer is the die hard Haunt owner that busts his/her ass every year not to get rich, but to entertain. We love those clients! We have sold commercials and que line entertainment to over 30 different haunts and hope to add a few more this year! The good thing we do is we won’t sell the same commercial to anybody within a 100 mile radius. So there is no way you’ll see the same haunt commercial on local TV. Of course, that’s why we made 9 different ones!
What are your 5 year goals?
Our main 5 year goal is to have a feature length horror movie on the bottom shelf at Blockbuster video! I think that is going to happen. But we really just want to just be a household name in the haunt industry. We have great customer service and our prices are super affordable. We really get happy knowing that our stuff is all over America and its helping the smaller haunts compete. Hopefully we will keep adding 3 to 5 new commercials each year and that way everybody can have one!
