The Haunting (1963)

I recently got a chance to check out the original Haunting at Hill House (AKA The Haunting) this past week. The film moved me with its overwhelming power of suggestion. Although a classic horror monster is never presented, the suggestion that one exists instills a degree of fear over the audience. This film really made me realize how out-of-whack the horror genre has become (for the most part anyway).

The modern day audience is barraged with so much explained information and CGI scare tactics that almost nothing is left to the imagination. The Haunting showcases a supreme creepiness by failing to tell us the whole story (for most of the film). This is truelly a Robert Wise masterpiece. Well, enough of my blabbing, I suggest you check it out for yourself. I've included some links below.
